I believe the QCast and GamesharkMP software both require the disc to boot the PS2 and load itself as a program. I also forgot to address some parts from your first post. If you'd like, I can post here them for you. I've got a few pictures of how it looked in operation.
My only criticism for the software would be the UI itself and the number of text lines you can see in the user windows this would be a problem for most any television displayed devices, however. They were even able to stream the media content over an 802.11b Wireless link to the content server. I haven't had the experience of installing or configuring the software itself, so I cannot comment upon that, but the software in action is indeed very fluid and lacking performance flaws. Having spoken to some of the developers and after seeing the software in action, I would have to say that BroadQ's QCast and GamesharkMP is production ready for the demands of most users. Gamespy's E3 coverage mentions the GamesharkMP briefly in its overview of MadCatz' product lineup. Thanks for replying and giving me some information!įrom what I understand, GamesharkMP uses BroadQ Qcast technology in its software, and essentially the two are one and the same. Perhaps in the future I will be find out more information, and I will pass that information on to other readers. I havn't found any screen shots of the GSMP, if anyone has found any, I would be glad to see em - View image here: - So I guess I am not sure now whether or not I want the Qcast or the GamesharkMP. If the only difference between the Gameshark media player and the Qcast tuner is the interface, that I guess I would make my decision based on what I thought was cooler looking. I have seen what the user interface looks like for broadq, and its just looks like its maybe a little plain. I dont really know what the difference will be, except maybe a different user interface. I have found out that it will be released in mid-june. Here is what I understand so far: It is based on the broadq qcast software, which means it is only as good as broadq, I believe. I have searched and tried to find out the differences. My next question is about the Gameshark Media Player. Perhaps I would need to learn a bit more about video scaling and encoding in order to make it work to my needs.
I hope to hear opinions from other people. I actually bought the network adapter and the router so I could have my ps2 online, and hopefully get the broadq software to work.
My ps2 is all set up for playing over a network.
Plus I'd just like to read some updates from people that have bought it just what they think of it. I guess the best way for me to find out how well it works is for me to just buy it and try it. When i first saw the product I thought it was a great idea. I am curious just to see how well it will work. Maybe if I hear some positive responses I will go out and buy it.
I wonder if it would help if they posted their code to ps2 developers and they could give ideas on how to write the software to take advantage of this. Maybe what broadq really needs is for people to take a chance with their software, then their staff will increase and they will be able to better their product as best they can. I hear that "updates will be available soon". I havn't heard from people if it will work with divx movies right now. I am getting closer to just buying the software and hoping that it will work with everything that I want it to work for. But I have also read that broadq is working on this. I read on a review that it was not able to play some videos in high resolution format. Do I have to put in the disk every time I want to watch a movie? Or is qcast more of a set up once, run a lot type of deal. With the new ps2 coming out(by the way any word on that?) and the combination of qcast, it might be possible. If I buy a copy of the software, can I use it on more than one ps2 that I have in my house? I posted before on how I wanted to be able to sit in my chair, turn on my ps2, and start browsing my media collection. I really think this is a good idea but I haven't really been conviinced enough to go out and buy one. I have read a lot of posts about the qcast tuner.
